Which one is Alif?

Kamil’s Great Story: A World Called IslamKamil settled in comfortably; his colorful blankets glistened in the sun, and a soft glow began to emanate from the book he held in his mouth. This camel isn’t just an ordinary traveler—he’s a bearer of light who comes from distant dunes to open up a world full of adventure for you. What is Islam?
Imagine that Islam isn’t just a word in a book. It’s like a map to the most beautiful oasis, where the water is always cool and the grass is green.
What does that mean for you? A path of peace that teaches us to live in harmony with ourselves and with every little creature in the desert. A light in the heart that helps us see the way and know what is right and kind. It is the awareness that Allah loves us and guides us every step of the way.Who is a Muslim?
"Being a Muslim is like having an invisible lamp in your heart that lights up every time you do something kind."
Being a Muslim is like having a superhero badge that isn’t visible on your shirt, but shines through your actions: You are a protector. You never hurt anyone with your words or deeds. Your hands help others, and your tongue speaks kind words. You are truthful. Even when no one is watching, you act honestly, because you know that Allah sees you and loves you. You are proud. You wear your faith like Kamil wears his precious red fez, with joy and your head held high.

Kamil and the Secret of the Invisible Light: Who Is Allah?Allah is the One who created the entire world, the universe, the stars, every ant, and you. He is the One and Only, and He is infinitely kind. Why Can’t We See Allah?
That is a question Kamil hears very often. He explains it to children using three magical analogies:A breeze in the desert: “Can you feel that gentle breeze tickling your face?” Kamil asks. “Can you see it? No. But can you see how it moves the gold tassel on my fez? In the same way, we cannot see Allah, but we see all the beautiful things He has done for us.”Love in the heart: “Can you see the love your mom or dad feels for you? You can’t touch it like a toy, but you know it’s there because it warms your heart. Allah’s love is even greater.”The scent of flowers: “When jasmine blooms in an oasis, you smell its fragrance before you see it. Allah is closer to us than the most beautiful scent.”Why do we trust Him and do everything for Him?
He always hears us: “Even when you whisper under the covers at night, Allah hears you. He is your best friend, to whom you can tell any secret.”
He knows what is best for us: Just as Kamil’s master knows where to find water in the desert, Allah knows what will make us happy. That is why we listen to Him—not out of fear, but out of love.Rewards for Good Deeds: “Every good deed we do—whether we share a date or help someone—we do for Allah. He loves such deeds and has the most beautiful rewards waiting for us in Paradise.”
Kamil knelt down in the sand and carefully placed his book in front of him. “Children,” he began mysteriously, “imagine receiving a letter from someone who loves you more than anyone else in the world. From someone who knows you better than you know yourselves. That is exactly what the Quran is.”

Why is the Quran so precious? The Quran consists of Allah’s own words. It is not a fairy tale: it contains advice and stories that Allah sent to humanity through the angel Jibril and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
It is a guide to happiness: Just as Kamil has a map to the oasis, the Quran is a map for our lives. It tells us how to find joy, how to help others, and how to be a good person.
Healing sound: When the Quran is recited (chanted), its sound soothes the heart like the murmur of the sea.
Kamil and the Seven Magical Phrases: Surah Al-FatihaSalam, kids! Kamil has just opened his book to the most important page. Do you know which surah is the very first one in the Quran? It’s called Al-Fatiha (The Opening) and Kamil calls it “The Key to the Heart.”Why is it so special?Imagine that Al-Fatiha is like a letter you send to Allah several times a day. Everything important is hidden within it:Gratitude: We say Alhamdulillah—thank you for the sunshine, for Mom, and for the sweet dates.Love: We learn that Allah is the Most Merciful (Ar-Rahman) and loves us very much.A plea for help: We ask Allah to guide us along the straightest path, just as Kamil guides you through the desert to a refreshing oasis.Did you know...?Scholars say that Al-Fatiha is actually a conversation. Every time you recite it, Allah answers you! You say that you love Him, and He says, “My servant (that’s you!) is thinking of Me.” Isn’t that beautiful?
Kamil’s task for you:The next time you pray or just gaze at the sky, try to remember Al-Fatiha. It’s seven short sentences that can brighten your whole day.Want to learn more?
In our members’ section, Kamil will reveal the secrets of each of these seven verses and explain why Allah smiles when He hears your voice. Join us for a deeper dive!

Kamil and the Secret of the Singing LettersOnce, in the deep desert, a strong wind blew and opened Kamil’s book. The letters scattered in all directions like little sand dancers! But Kamil just smiled and began teaching the children their names:Alif ∣ – The first letter, standing straight and proud like a pole holding up a tent.

The Letter ALIF: The First Hero of the Alphabet
Alif looks like a tall, slender soldier standing at attention. Or you can imagine it as a long, sweet candy bar or a straight pencil waiting for you to start writing with it.How do you pronounce it?
Alif is a great friend and loves to sing! When you see him, open your mouth wide and say a long “Aaaah.” It’s almost the same as when you’re happy: “Aaaa, that’s delicious!”Fun fact for little explorers:Alif is the number 1 in Arabic. He’s simply first in everything!Alif is a bit of a loner—he likes to stand next to the other letters, but he never holds anyone’s hand (on the left side). He’s a bit of an independent tough guy.
Give it a try!
Take your finger and try drawing it on our drawing area below. Start at the top and draw a straight line down to the bottom.
There you go! And your first Alif is complete.
